Some of the different types of Mutton dishes that are very famous in Indian food cuisine as well as in the marketplace:

 

 

  • Sali Boti

Sali boti is a dish made up of Red hot mutton which is basically cooked with different types of aromatic species. Sali Boti mainly originated from the Parsi religion & a very famous dish having many ingredients like tomatoes, onions, jaggery (gur), and vinegar. Fried potato sticks are used as toppings on sali boti & usually found in the family get together, at weddings, dinner parties, or in big restaurants.

  • Railway Mutton Curry

Railway Mutton Curry is made up of Chicken ingredients mixed with aromatic spices and yogurt (Dahi), coriander leaves are used as a topping ingredient, and it is basically served with fried or steamed rice. The dish is called Railway mutton curry because it was mainly originated from the chefs of Indian Railways during the British period.

 

Awadhi Mutton Biryani is a delicious royal Mutton dish that is suitable for heavy meals (lunch or dinner). This biryani basically prepared by applying a unique texture of aromatic species on fried basmati rice as well as chicken pieces too. This is an aromatic and full of flavor dish that is very famous across the Indian subcontinent. 

  • Kosha Mangsho

Kosha Mangsho is a famous Bengali mutton curry, which is mainly made up of juicy mutton pieces and different kinds of aromatic & rich spices. Kosha Mangsho is a flavourful mutton curry that is a very perfect dish for a holiday meal or for a dinner party. Kosha Mangsho is basically served with Chapati or paratha, pav (bread), or eaten as a curry meal.

  • Badami Lamb Korma

A Badami Lamb korma is enriched with the flavors of cream, contains a paste of almonds, yogurt (Dahi), and a lot of aromatic spices. It is mainly served with Roti or paratha, fried rice, & can be easily found at restaurants, dinner parties, or during the festive season. Badami Lamb korma is similar to Mutton korma but the only difference is that it contains the rich flavor of almonds that makes it a unique dish.

  • Rogan Josh

Rogan josh is also known to be as Roghan ghosht. Rogan Josh is a curry dish that is basically originated from the Kashmiri region. Generally, It is made up of red meat (may be of lamb, mutton, or goat) and contains mainly alkanet flower (or root) and well famous Kashmiri chilies. In short, we can say that it is a watermark of the Kashmiri cuisine. The history behind the origin of Rogan josh was that it is basically was brought by the Mughals to the Kashmir region & their cuisine was basically influenced by Persian cuisine i.e. they copied from the Persian food culture.

 

  • Dhabe Da Keema

As the name suggests, Dhabe da keema is prepared by the crushed pieces of mutton which are basically fried in Dhaba style with tomatoes, onions, and lots of different types of aromatic spices. This dish is mainly found either in Dhabas or in restaurants. It is basically served as a keema dish but some people also prefer this dish with fried rice too. Dhabe da keema is basically originated from the Punjabi culture and it is spicy & tangy in texture or taste.

 

  • Bhindiwala Meat

Bhindiwala Meat is a delicious & healthy combination of meat, okra, and different kinds of aromatic spices. Bhindiwala meat is basically enriched with okra and juicy mutton pieces that are fried in flavourful & aromatic spices.

  • Rajasthani Laal Maas

Rajasthani Laal Maas basically originated from the Rajasthani culture of India. Rajasthani Laal Mass mainly consists of a lot of red chilies as red chilies are the primary ingredients in it. Also, the Rajasthani Laal Maas has a local kachori spice & fried in Mustard oil or vegetable oil. The goodness of meat is very much suitable for dinner or lunch meals, parties.

 

  • Parsi Mutton Cutlets

For making Parsi Mutton cutlets, the fuss-free cutlets are made in advance and stored in a deep cold freezer. Parsi Mutton cutlets mainly consist of Mutton pieces, potatoes, herbs, and different types of aromatic spices. Mutton cutlets are the perfect meal for dinner parties or during any occasional events, festival celebration. It is mainly served with green coriander chutney. 

  • Khatta Meat

Khatta meat mainly originated from the Dogri culture of the Jammu region i.e. it has a Kashmiri taste. Khatta Meat is prepared by cooking it in mustard oil with some pinches of amchur (dry mango powder), which gives a citrusy flavor to it & made it a unique dish of the Jammu region. We can say that it is a perfect combination of different kinds of aromatic spices and a sour taste which is very suitable for a healthy meal & mainly perfect for dinner parties.

 

  • Laziz Lamb Handi

Laziz lamb Handi is a Non-veggie curry dish made up of desi ghee & mainly consists of different kinds of aromatic spices, a creamy sauce, and lamb meat. The fact about this lamb curry is that it is a boneless dish that is enriched with many nutritional values. It is a delicious dish having a flavorful gravy & it is also best for dinner parties.

  • Galouti Kebab

Galouti kebabs are mainly originated from the cuisines of the Awadhi region. Galouti kebabs are firstly Made for the nawab of Lucknow & it is a tender and juicy dish and generally contains more than 150 kinds of aromatic spices when it was firstly discovered. As the time passes these kebabs have traveled around the world & very famous around the globe having some variations in making techniques. It generally contains shallow pieces of crushed muttons which are deep-fried in desi ghee in a deep Kadai. Galouti kebabs are mainly a royal dish & served with ulte tawe ka paratha, with a chutney.

  • Mutton Korma

The word korma literally originated from the Urdu language which means “to braise”.Mutton Korma is a popular Mughlai dish, & we all know that basically, korma is well known for its tangy flavor as it is prepared by slow cooking of mutton pieces with lots of aromatic spices, yogurt (Dahi), cream, in vegetable oil. In India, many variations are also found of making this mutton korma such as many people add almonds, cashew, nutmeg, cloves, cardamoms, Kewra water (as a flavoring agent), and coconut milk as the ingredients in Mutton korma.

  • Nalli Nihari

Nalli Nihari is a very famous dish in India as the no Eid celebration is completed without eating a plate of Nalli Nihari with Khameeri (yeast) Roti. Basically, Nalli Nihari is a buttery gravy dish that generally contains boneless meat pieces. As per expert chefs, the dish gave a great taste when it is cooked so much so that it is properly converted as a gravy dish, acquiring almost the same texture. Nalli Nihari contains many ingredients such as kewda water (as an essence in the dish), cardamom seeds, mace, and is usually garnished with ginger, green chilies, and fresh coriander leaves.
